About Us

Jim and Sharron Barrett have been creating glass art in their studio in Germantown, Tennessee since 1989.  In the spring and summer of 1993 the Barretts studied in Siena, Italy with the glass artists at the Vertrate Artistiche Toscane, one of the prominent art glass studios in Italy.  There they thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of the Italians and learned additional skills and techniques they have incorporated into their glass work.

In 1994 they changed their focus from stained glass windows to kiln-fired glass and began developing the technique and style that has become unique in art glass.  Each piece of iridized, black, and dichroic glass is hand cut, and carefully arranged edge to edge on a second layer of black glass creating the design.  Each piece is fired twice.

After the first kiln firing fuses all pieces into a solid, 22K gold is applied by hand to the surface.  The second firing cures the gold to the surface of the glass as the heat softens and slumps it into a gentle curve.  Jim and Sharron make each piece of glass art with their own hands making your piece truly one of a kind.
